My Immortality

1–2 minutes

Nestled in my arm
Your ear pressed to my heart
Your rhythmic breathing matching mine
My breast an easy pillow

I soak up these precious moments
Every mothers secret joy
Your little body warms me to the core

My body knows, your body knows
This is where you started
This is where your heart first beat
This is where you practised your first breaths

I could lie here and listen to you sleeping
For all my days
And feel fulfilled, meet my purpose

The smell and feel of that baby soft hair
It never gets old
Those chubby fingers wrapped around mine
Making sure I’m still there
But I’ll always be, baby
I’m always here, my sweet little man

Nothing will change it
No sin too great, no distance too far
My love will follow you

And you can give it some day
To your little one
To a piece of your soul
And it continues on
Our tiny bit of immortality

Nestled in my arm Your ear pressed to my heart Your rhythmic breathing matching mine My breast an easy pillow I soak up these precious moments Every mothers secret joy Your little body warms me to the core My body knows, your body knows This is where you started This is where your heart first…
