I don’t believe I know everything the way I believed I did when I was 24.
But I’m fairly certain I know more than I did when I was 12, and that’s a start.
I know that a home does not require years of collecting furniture, perfect colour schemes and feng shui.
You can put a home together with less than $200 and access to Kijiji if you need to.
You do not need endless bookshelves filled with book after book to prove your depth of knowledge.
You do not need to prove anything. To anyone. Ever. Stop it.
Eat better, sleep more, drink water, walk more.
After 3 decades on planet earth, it turns out my greatest epiphany was that my parents advice – now with my trial and error as research to back them up – was, indeed, correct.
Last – but really not last, put this first – if someone loves you despite your mess (you’re mess, you are mess, you are a mess) – love them back. Purposely, consciously, emphatically – with effort. Every day.
